Eucalyptus Essential Oil Eucalyptus the plant: Scientific name: Eucalyptus Globulus. A tall evergreen tree, 80-90 m tall, of the Myrtaceae family. There are over 500 species of the plant on earth. Origin: From Australia. It spread to Europe in the 18th century and the first tree was planted in Greece in the Botanical Garden of Athens in 1864. Eucalyptus Essential Oil Biologist: Technique: Extracted from the leaves of the plant, by steam distillation. Odor: Strong, woody, similar to camphor and color that starts out colorless and turns yellow over time.
